Every year on June 1, World Milk Day is celebrated all over the world. Observance of this day is started by United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in 2001 to recognize importance of the Milk globally. The main aim to celebrate Milk Day is to provide opportunities for activities connected with the Dairy sector all over the world.

Before 2001, in many countries, Milk day is celebrated on June 1. After that FAO started in 2001 to celebrated especially only for this date.

In 2006, World Milk Day is celebrated into more than 40 countries world-wide. There were lots of activities held to celebrate this day. In many countries people are organizing marathons, family runs, school based activities, conferences, seminars, milking demonstration and farm visits, competitions and many more just support and help dairy business and dairy sector. Through these activities, people could be knew how dairy industries and dairy business helps in national economy.
