missing children's day - may 25

Missing Children’s Day is observed internationally on 25th May every year.  Observation of this day is started in 1983 in USA as a National Missing children’s day. But in 1998, this day is started to observe internationally.

In 1998, Global missing children’s Network(GMCN) is launched with the help of  International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children (ICMEC) and the USA’s National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC). Having more than 23 countries united with this joint venture and their mission to connect, share and publicize information and images of missing children for better investigation.

On May 25, GMCN Members pay respects to International missing children’s day. They honor the missing and kidnapped children and also celebrate with the recovered children who just missed and kidnapped before.

This mission spread quickly at global level and started to tribute and honor missing children world-wide in 2001. In more than 22 countries, ICMEC coordinate a campaign named HELP BRING THEM HOME in conjunction with International Missing Children’s Day. Main aim for this campaign of ICMEC is to spotlights the issue of child kidnapping all over the world. ICMEC also suggest parents about steps to protect their children.
